The Zeemijlenloop Delfzijl covers four nautical miles, exactly 7.408 kilometres, and takes its name from that measurement. The start is on the Burgemeester Boeremalaan, after which the course takes in a broad slice of Delfzijl: green areas, the sea, the harbour and the beach, before crossing the new bridge back into the centre. The finish is at Molen Adam, right in the middle of town. Alongside the individual race there is a company run and a kids run, which keeps the event a local running day where clubs, colleagues and children mix. Atletiekvereniging Fivelstreek organises the race. The unusual distance makes comparison with other events awkward, but it does produce a time you will not set anywhere else.
