VAM Ventoux

About the race

The VAM Ventoux is a walking event to and around the VAM-berg near Wijster, starting from the De Blinkerd car park on the Vamweg. There are five routes: 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 kilometres. Start times differ by distance — for 5, 10 and 15 kilometres you may leave whenever you like between half past eight and two, but anyone doing 20 or 25 kilometres has to be away before ten. The name deliberately refers to Mont Ventoux and the walks held there for cancer research: the climb up the former landfill is the symbolic equivalent here. The entire proceeds go to the Toon Hermans Huis Drenthe in Hoogeveen, which also organises the event itself.
