The Hoogeveense Cascaderun is built around the 5 and 10 English miles, starting on the Raadhuisplein and finishing on the Hoofdstraat by the church square. Both courses are flat, fully paved, closed to traffic and officially measured, which makes the race suited to anyone chasing a time; the ten miles sets off half an hour before the five. There is also a children's race, the Giga-G Cascaderun and a pairs run. Entry includes a running shirt, timing, refreshments and free finish photos — but no medal: the organisers deliberately hand one out only once every five years, at an anniversary edition.
