The Hoogeveense Cascaderun is Hoogeveen's major road race, with 5 and 10 English miles as its main distances. The 18th edition is scheduled for Sunday 19 April 2026. The start is on the Raadhuisplein and the finish is on the Hoofdstraat by the Kerkplein. The courses are flat, fully paved, closed to traffic during the race and certified by the Atletiekunie, making the Cascaderun attractive for runners chasing a fast time. At the same time, the programme is broader than the main races alone: the Unicef Kinderloop, the GigaG Cascaderun and the DuoRun are also part of the day. Water points, sponges, music and crowds give the event its recognizable city-centre atmosphere.
