The Turfveld Zomercross is a forest race organised by AV Texel, starting and finishing at the woodland pavilion 't Turfveld on the Nattevlakweg in the De Dennen forest. The course follows the paths through the woods, with two distances for adults: 4.15 kilometres or double that at 8.3 kilometres. The youth have their own distances, from just over a kilometre for the youngest to twice that for the older category. The cross returns on six consecutive Sunday mornings during the summer, each time starting at half past ten, so participants can choose for themselves how often they take part. Entry fees stay low and AV Texel members pay less still.
