The Texel Winterbosloop is the oldest running race on the island of Texel and is held in the De Dennen woods, with the Bospaviljoen 't Turfveld as the gathering point. Runners aged fifteen and over have 4 and 8 kilometres to choose from; the 8 kilometres is the same lap run twice. Before that the youngsters take to the course: 800 metres for the youngest and 1400 metres for the older age groups. Entry is possible online in advance but also on the day itself at the pavilion, where race numbers are handed out. Every participant receives a keepsake and there are prizes per age category. The course follows forest tracks, which gives the race a different feel from a flat road event.
