The Triathlon Alphen plays out entirely around the Zegerplas: the swim is in the lake itself, with start and finish at the T-dock of the day camping, and the run is the familiar lap around the water. Only the bike course leaves the area, along the canal roads towards Kortsteekterbuurt. There are two distances — a sprint of 750 metres swimming, 23 kilometres cycling and 5 kilometres running, and a quarter of 1000 metres, 43 kilometres and 10 kilometres — plus a Business Triathlon in which teams cover that quarter distance as a relay. The sprint is open from sixteen, the quarter from eighteen. Over six hundred triathletes take the start.
