The Thaisner DörpsRun is the running day of Thesinge, a village northeast of Groningen, and has existed since 2007. It was set up back then to raise money for building the village hall; these days the proceeds go to the Noordelijke Cara Stichting. Registration is collected in that same village hall on the Kerkstraat. The programme counts five distances for adults — 4 kilometres, 4 miles, 10 kilometres, the half marathon and the marathon — plus a children's race. The marathon is covered as two laps of the half marathon course and sets off first, well ahead of the shorter distances, so that everyone comes in at roughly the same time. A pasta meal waits afterwards.
