For part of the field the Texel Halve Marathon does not begin on the island but on the ferry: those choosing that option set off the moment the horn of the TESO boat sounds, at twenty-five past twelve. You can also start the same distance from the island itself, at the same time. The half and the quarter marathon work that way; the eighth marathon leaves from Den Hoorn. All three distances converge on the centre of Den Burg, where the finish lies. That makes the day a sequence of crossing, run and arrival in one place. The event is organised by Stichting Texel Atletiek.
