The Singelloop has been an institution in Hollandscheveld since 1939, which makes it one of the oldest village races in Drenthe. The start and finish are at the Hoekje youth centre, in the middle of the village. The evening begins with the youngsters: the smallest run half a kilometre, followed by distances of 1 and 2.5 kilometres by age group. From the age of fifteen runners choose between 5 and 10 kilometres, with the 10 kilometres setting off first as the competitive race and the 5 kilometres following half an hour later. The athletics club De Snelle Rakkers organises the whole event and keeps entry fees low, particularly for the youth races.
