Rennen voor Sophia is held on the Langepad by the entrance of the Kralingse Bos in Rotterdam, in aid of the Sophia children's hospital of the Erasmus MC. The Vrienden van het Sophia foundation puts on the race together with the PAC Rotterdam athletics club. The programme is explicitly aimed at families and builds from a 400 metre track lap and the children's kilometre up to 3, 5 and 10 kilometres, with the three kilometres also serving as a family loop. On top of the entry fee, every participant is asked to raise at least ten euros in donations; anyone passing fifty euros receives a keepsake for it. The race falls on Ascension Day.
