The Oosterscheldeloop is a Zeeland road race starting and finishing on the Dorpsstraat in Kattendijke. The course runs along the shores of the Oosterschelde national park towards Wemeldinge and returns through the wide-open polders on the back roads. It is paved throughout, and on the dykes the wind often has a say. The afternoon opens with the youth over 800 metres, split into two age groups with their own start on the Kureweg. The 4.1, 7.4 and 15 kilometres then set off together. The shorter distances are performance runs; on the 15 kilometres club athletes and recreational runners share a single classification.
