The Hoek Run opens the d'Oekse Feesten in Hoek, in the middle of Zeelandic Flanders. At seven the children run their 750 metres first, split into two age groups and free of charge; half an hour later the main distances of 4, 8 and 12 kilometres set off. Bibs are collected at Café de Molenhoek, and anyone entering on the evening itself pays a surcharge. Because the race opens the first night of the village festival, the crowd is there anyway and the prize giving runs straight on into the marquee — you are in the same place from start to drinks.
