The Midwinter Marathon Apeldoorn is a winter classic spread across three days. It opens on Friday evening with the 4-kilometre Night Run from the Marktplein; the weekend then brings the Kids Run over 500 metres and 1 kilometre, the Acht van Apeldoorn, the 10 English miles, the 25 van Apeldoorn and the marathon. Start and finish for most components are on the Loolaan at the Bosweg, while the marathon sets off from the athletics track and runs two loops through the woods via Berg en Bos, Assel and Hoog Soeren. The routes cross the hilly, wooded country around Apeldoorn; the highest point lies on the Kampsteeg, a hundred metres above sea level.
