The Maliebaanloop is run on a closed city course on and around the Maliebaan in Utrecht, with a lap of 2.5 kilometres that makes the various distances possible. There are two youth races — 1 kilometre for four to nine year olds and 2.5 kilometres for ten to thirteen — alongside the 5 and 10 kilometres from fourteen up. Those same 5 and 10 also serve as the Dutch student championship, which produces a fast field at the front. The race is carried by volunteers of Utrecht Atletiek.
