Loop door Houten is the village's Friday evening race, with Het Plein in the old centre as its pivot. The evening opens at six with the walkers over 5 and 8 kilometres, then come the children, and at ten past seven the SAMSAMLOOP — 2.5 kilometres you are explicitly meant to run together with your child, partner, parent or colleague. At twenty to eight the 5 and the 10 kilometres set off at once, the latter also carrying the team classification for squads of four. The prize giving follows at half past eight, so the whole thing fits into a single evening. With walkers, children, pairs, individual runners and teams taking turns, this is a village-wide sporting moment rather than one race.
