Limburg Wine Trailrun

About the race

The Limburg Wine Trailrun starts and finishes at the Kasteelhoeve Cartils estate near Wijlre, between Gulpen and Eys in the South Limburg hill country. The routes are largely unpaved and run past vineyards, through woodland and across meadows. There are three distances of 10, 15 and 20 kilometres with 220, 300 and 370 metres of climbing respectively — by Dutch standards that is serious climbing per kilometre. The longest goes first, the shortest an hour later. Afterwards the wine the route passes is poured on the grounds, with music alongside; this is emphatically not a race where you head for your car straight after the finish.
