The Trail de la Montagne Saint-Pierre starts in Lanaye, a village of Visé on the Meuse, and runs over the wooded ridge that forms the border with Dutch Limburg there. The format is unusual: teams of three run a 3 kilometre loop, with the team building up as it goes. The first runner covers the opening loop alone, the second joins for the second, and the third comes in for the last, so that the trio completes that lap together. In the Petite Triplette it ends there; in the Grande Trailplette the full team then covers a 10 kilometre trail together. Anyone starting here is therefore not chasing an individual time but running as a team that finishes as one.
