The Koude Polderloop in Nijkerk is a fast road race through the quiet polders around the town, starting and finishing on the Bellstraat. Both the 5 and the 10 kilometres are officially measured and certified by the Dutch athletics federation, which makes the race attractive to anyone chasing a time. The morning opens with a one-kilometre youth race, then the 5 kilometres follows and an hour later the 10. The organisers keep things plain and practical: race numbers can only be collected on the day and there is no medal — this is about running, timing and the open polder. The previous edition drew nearly six hundred entries.
