Eemmeerloop, organised by Hardloopvereniging Quo Vadis Bunschoten, is a road event with a striking headline distance: 50 km around the Eemmeer. That ultra-distance can be run solo, as a duo or as a relay, attracting both individual endurance runners and teams. There are also 5 km and 10 km races for runners who want to stay closer to Spakenburg. Start and finish are in the heart of Spakenburg, with practical facilities at Sporthal De Toekomst on Sportpark De Westmaat. The course is not fully traffic-free; on the 50 km in particular, awareness and support are part of the setup. The mix of a village start, waterside landscape and a long loop around the Eemmeer gives this race its own identity.
