The Ketskesloop is the village race of the Gezinsbond of Bottelare, a district of Merelbeke on the edge of the Flemish Ardennes. A ketske is local usage for an unpaved field track, and that is exactly what the race is about: the course leaves the tarmac streets wherever it can in favour of the lanes between fields and meadows, with sections along the Gentbos woodland. Three distances are offered for adults — 5 kilometres, 11 kilometres and ten miles — plus children's races over 1 and 2 kilometres. The shortest distance stays close to the village, the 11 kilometres pushes on towards Munte and the ten miles seeks out the most unpaved section. Start and finish are at the Visitatieschool.
