The Halve van Katwijk runs along the beach, through the dunes and the Panbos, so the surface and the view keep changing along the way — from hard sand and asphalt to forest path and back. There are four running distances of 5, 10, 15 and 21.1 kilometres, plus a kidsrun. Walkers have a programme of their own over 10, 15 and 21 kilometres with separate routes, so runners and walkers stay out of each other's way. There is also a business run for colleagues wanting to start together. Aid stations stand at several points along the course. The event is organised by Stichting Halve van Katwijk together with the Rijnsoever athletics club.
