The Nieuwjaarsloop in Leiden opens the running year at the athletics track in the Leidse Hout park. The morning starts with the GeZZinsLoop over 800 metres on the track itself, aimed at the youngest participants. The 10 and the 15 kilometres then set off together, with the 5 kilometres following ten minutes later. The routes run through the green Leidse Hout and the surrounding polders; the longest distance also passes Oegstgeest and Warmond. The race forms part of the Zorg en Zekerheid Circuit, so alongside the day's placings there are circuit points to be earned. Parking is a five-minute walk from the track, which keeps the start and finish area uncluttered.
