The Singelloop Leiden is an evening race through the centre of Leiden covering roughly 6.5 kilometres along the seven Leiden canals. The start and finish are on the Lammermarkt by the De Valk windmill, and the course runs anticlockwise: from the Rijnsburgersingel by way of the Morssingel, the Witte Singel, the Zoeterwoudsesingel, the Zijlsingel and the Maresingel back to the Rijnsburgersingel. There is only one distance, so the entire field sets off together: racers at the front, families at the back. The event is run by a foundation that spends the proceeds on charities in Leiden each year.
