GYMRACE is a hybrid race: stretches of running alternate with fixed strength stations such as the sled push, wall balls, rowing, ski-erg and burpee broad jumps. In Utrecht it plays out indoors, in the Jaarbeurs beside Central Station, on a track where two laps make a kilometre — so you constantly see who is ahead of and behind you. Judges watch the execution and on some exercises a camera counts along, so half repetitions do not count. You can enter solo, in pairs or as a relay team; in the buddy categories you start and finish together and divide the workload between you as you go.
