Glibbertreel Leiden

About the race

The Glibbertreel is an urban trail of about 6.4 kilometres through the centre of Leiden, starting and finishing at the Burcht. What makes the route special is that it leads straight through buildings that are normally closed: past editions went through museums, across a cemetery and through the town hall, and each year something different opens its doors. It is emphatically not a competition — nothing is timed and there are no prizes for the fastest. Runners and walkers set off together, entry is from sixteen years and places are capped at eight hundred and fifty. Not all streets are closed off, so you share the city with ordinary traffic along the way. The event is organised by Leiden Road Runners Club.
