Dutch Backyard Ultra 2026
The Dutch Backyard Ultra turns on a single lap of 6.706 kilometres, which begins again on every full hour. Anyone finishing the lap within the hour starts again exactly an hour after their previous start; anyone who does not is done. There is no finish line and no distance known in advance: the race lasts until one runner is left who can manage another lap. That 6.706 kilometres is not an arbitrary figure — twenty-four laps in twenty-four hours comes to a hundred miles. It is run at Scoutinglandgoed Zeewolde. The format comes from Gary Cantrell, also known for the Barkley Marathons.
