The Bonifatiusloop Dokkum is a Frisian running day starting and finishing at the Bonifatius chapel, just outside the historic heart of the town. Runners choose 5 or 10 kilometres or the half marathon; those distances set off together in the early afternoon, and the 21.1 kilometres carries a limit of two and a half hours net. The routes head straight for the ramparts, the mills, the water and the green edge of town. Alongside them the Sionsberg walking tour covers 6, 10, 15, 25 or 35 kilometres through the terp villages around Dokkum, with striking church towers as landmarks, while children run 600, 1250 or 2000 metres free of charge. Companies can enter the Business Run as a team. That combination makes the Bonifatiusloop a race, a walk and a town festival at once.
