The Santa Run Nienoord is an easy-going Christmas run on the Nienoord estate in Leek, where participants set off dressed as Father Christmas. From the central field by Borg Nienoord a clearly marked 2.5-kilometre loop runs around the estate; running, walking or ambling are all fine, and anyone wanting more simply does the loop twice. Just before the gun there is a warm-up for everyone together. The entry fee includes the Santa suit, which is yours to keep, and a medal at the finish. Proceeds go to charity: Rotary club Roden-Leek organises the run as part of the national Rotary Santa Run network, which has been going since 2008. Families, groups of friends and colleagues make up much of the field.
