Devil's Trail - Schiermonnikoog

About the race

Devil's Trail Schiermonnikoog is a trail weekend on a car-free Wadden island, with dunes, beach, salt marshes and forest paths in a single course. It opens on Friday evening with the 10-kilometre NightTrail from the Berkenplas — Schiermonnikoog counts as one of the darkest places in the Netherlands, so a head torch is compulsory. On Saturday everything moves to De Oorsprong, where the 30 kilometres across the Brakzand starts first and the 15 kilometres along the Kobbeduinen follows later. In between, children run their own KidsTrail of 1 or 3 kilometres. The route crosses Natuurmonumenten land in the middle of the Wadden Sea World Heritage area; surface, wind and sand set the pace here, not straight lines.
