De One and Only is a marathon that has opened the local fair week since 2003, organised by the Plantaris running club. The distance is covered in laps of two to three kilometres, which means participants keep passing one another and spectators see everything from a single spot. You can enter solo, but the field consists mainly of relay teams sharing the marathon between them. Every year carries a theme, and costumed teams are part of the picture; there are prizes for the best outfit alongside those for the fastest times. Among the local entrants, international ultra runners turn up regularly. The proceeds go to a local good cause.
