The Checkpoint Challenge is an orienteering run in Evergem for which no orienteering experience is needed: anyone who can read a walking map can take part. Instead of a waymarked course you get a map with checkpoints to scan along the way with a smartphone; between the points you choose your own line. There are three routes of roughly 5, 10 and 20 kilometres, the two shortest of which are explicitly meant for walkers too. Each group needs at least one smartphone. The event works with an open start window, and entry is possible online in advance or on the day itself.
