Beachrun Wijk aan Zee is a beach race along the North Holland coast in which the course itself is the challenge: you run on sand and are entirely at the mercy of wind, rain or winter sun. The roughly seven-kilometre lap includes the climb up the Muur van Wijk aan Zee, an eighteen percent slope that gives this race its own face. Anyone doing two laps covers around 14 kilometres and has to start that second lap within the hour, because the finish closes two hours after the start. Children have runs of 750 and 1500 metres. Every finisher receives a medal, in a different design each year. The race is part of the Beachrun Serie.
