The Beeckestijn Cross is a winter cross-country race on the eighteenth-century Beeckestijn country estate in Velsen-Zuid. The course runs through the park woodland over forest paths and avenues that look beautiful but run hard. The morning starts with the youngsters: 1.2 kilometres for pupils and G-athletes, followed by 3.2 kilometres for the juniors. Around midday the 6.4 and the 9.6 kilometres for women and men set off together. Registration, changing and showers are at the VV IJmuiden clubhouse within walking distance of the start and finish, where soup is waiting for every participant afterwards. The race forms part of a regional cross-country circuit and is chip-timed.
