The AV Veluwe track meeting at the Orderbos track in Apeldoorn is an accessible race over 1500 and 5000 metres. The evening opens at seven with the 1500 metres, after which the 5000-metre heats follow; that distance has a minimum age of fifteen. Runners are placed in heats according to their expected finishing time, so everyone races against others of a similar pace — the meeting is emphatically not reserved for the fast. The entry fee is the same for every distance and deliberately low, and there is no late entry. Showers and changing rooms are available at the sports park. Anyone who wants to test their speed on the track in a compact evening setting, cheered on by coaches and club mates, is in the right place.
