The AV Texel Zomerloop is a weekly evening race on Texel, held on six consecutive Wednesday evenings, starting and finishing at Sportpark Zuid on the Haffelderweg in Den Burg. The course has a character of its own: runners begin with a lap on the athletics track, then take the cycling track and a stretch across the Hoge Berg, before finishing back on the track. Two distances are on offer, 4.4 and 8.4 kilometres, the latter as a double lap. The youth run earlier in the evening on the track itself, over 400, 800 or 1,200 metres, followed by a prize ceremony and an ice cream. Registration opens at half past six and the race itself starts at half past seven.
