The AV Spirit Wintercup is not a single race but a series of six: the first Sunday of every month from October through March. Start and finish are on the athletics track of Sportpark Langezand on the Sportparkweg in Lelystad. At half past ten the 800-metre kids run goes off, a quarter of an hour later all other categories: the 2-kilometre youth race and the 5 and 10 kilometres, which may also be walked. The measured lengths are slightly longer than the names suggest — 5.32 and 10.11 kilometres. A season standings runs across the six races, which makes entering the whole series more rewarding than a single edition.
