About the race

Sea fresh Wintercross Urk is a short winter cross-country race organised by Loopgroep Urk, built around a varied 1.25-kilometre loop. Participants run that loop between one and four times, which puts the distance somewhere between 1.25 and 5 kilometres. Because you repeat the same lap you know exactly what is coming, and you can weigh up lap by lap whether to continue — which is precisely what makes the format exciting. The course demands genuine cross-country legs: changing surfaces and constant shifts of pace. The atmosphere is plain and local, with a traditional bowl of hot pea soup afterwards for participants and volunteers. A short, sharp winter effort with a convivial finish on Urk.
