The Kerstloop Dronten is a road race in the run-up to Christmas, over 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and a half marathon. The start and finish are on the street De Rede, right by the Meerpaalplein in the middle of town; the finish village sits on that square, with catering and activities for runners and spectators. The half marathon goes first and covers two laps, so participants pass the square an extra time along the way; the 10 and the 5 kilometres follow a quarter and half an hour later. You do not need to belong to a club to take part, and companies can enter teams of three to five colleagues over the 5 or the 10 kilometres, with the fastest three setting the team time.
