The MIQA 5Hoekloop is the neighbourhood race of the Vijfhoek in Deventer, starting and finishing on the grounds of De Ulebelt. The programme is compact: a kidsrun, a 5 and a 10 kilometres, and every participant receives a medal. The 5 kilometres also carries a team classification — squads of three to six runners, with the fastest three setting the team time, so a slower fourth or fifth costs nothing. The foundation behind the race picks a new good cause every year and deliberately looks for one to do with children or with the neighbourhood, because the Vijfhoek is a notably child-rich area. That explains the tone of the day better than the programme does.
