100 Bruggenloop

About the race

The 100 Bruggenloop counts what the name promises: over twenty kilometres you go up and down a hundred bridges. That is the whole idea, and it turns a flat city into a course with constant elevation change in small doses — you never find a rhythm that holds for longer than a minute. The route follows the canals, moats and rivers of the Leiden old town, past centuries-old steep little bridges and wide modern spans. There are shorter variants of 9 and 13 kilometres. Walkers go on Saturday from the Van der Werfpark, runners on Sunday from the Stadhuisplein and the Vismarkt.
