The Zeevangsloop is the village race of Middelie, with start and finish on the Brink and a course through the open meadow country of the former Zeevang municipality. There are five distances: 3, 6, 10, 15 and 21.4 kilometres, that last one just a little longer than an ordinary half marathon. The event is run by the Hercules gymnastics club, uses electronic timing and deliberately keeps the entry fee low. The race traditionally falls a week before the Dam tot Damloop, which means many participants use it as a final test — a role that does not get in the way of its small, unassuming character.
