Palingrun Volendam is a running and walking event with a distinctly Volendam character. Start and finish are on the Slobbeland, from where the routes lead through Volendam and Edam. The core distances are the 5 English Miles over 8 km and the 10 English Miles over 16.1 km; the programme also includes a Kidsrun, a Businessrun and the Palingloop as a 15 km walking edition. That mix makes the Palingrun more than a single evening race: fast runners can race with purpose, children and teams have their own place, and walkers experience the same local atmosphere. Part of the proceeds supports Stichting Ringen om Volendam, giving the event a clear link with young sporting talent from the municipality.
