Winter Triatlon Twente

About the race

The Winter Triatlon Twente combines running, cycling and speed skating in and around the IJsbaan Twente rink. There are four formats, and the organisers spell out the composition in each name: the children's distance with 1.25 kilometres running, 8 cycling and 2 skating, then Short, Middle and Long, rising to 10 kilometres running, 50 cycling and 20 on the ice. The running course starts on the car park in front of the rink; the cycling leg uses a 6.8-kilometre loop through the hamlet of Twekkelo on the border of Enschede and Hengelo, ridden one to seven times. The two longest formats can also be tackled as a relay team. The race has been going since 2009 and runs on around a hundred and forty volunteers.
