Halve van Hengelo

About the race

The Halve van Hengelo is run on Easter Monday, starting and finishing inside the F.B.K. stadium. That stadium setting shapes the atmosphere: the day opens with the 500-metre Bambino run on the track for the youngest children, followed by the under-thirteens over 1.5 kilometres. The frame runners then set off, and right after them the 5, 10 and 15 kilometres and the half marathon all start together. Every runner first covers a three-hundred-metre lap of the stadium before the route heads out of town towards the Twente countryside, where the distances peel away from one another one by one. The closing kilometres along the cycle highway back to the stadium are known for the headwind.
