The Vlietloop owes its name to the water the longest distances follow: the 10 kilometres and the ten miles run along the Vliet and the Korte Vliet outside the village, while the 5 kilometres and the kidsrun stay within Voorschoten. Start and finish are in the centre. Race numbers can be collected from eight o'clock at the De Vliethorst sports hall; around quarter past ten there is a warm-up for the children on the Deltaplein, where their race also starts. Registration is possible online and in advance only — on the day itself there is no option left. Because of that difference in course, the short distance feels like a village race and the long one like a journey along the water.
