The Viva la Vida Run starts and finishes on the market square in Kerkrade and heads from there towards the Anstel valley, over paved roads and footpaths through the rolling landscape north of the town. Flat it is not. The programme is finely divided by age: two runs of 500 metres for the youngest, 1000 metres for the older children, 3 kilometres for schoolchildren, and 5 and 10 kilometres for seniors and juniors. The 10 kilometres opens the morning, the rest follow around midday. Walkers can cover the same ten kilometres and set off within a time window beforehand. The event is organised by the Achilles-Top athletics club.
