Vestingloop Bergen op Zoom is a city race through a fortified town with a pronounced historic face, starting and finishing on the Grote Markt. The course passes the Markiezenhof palace, the Ravelijn, the Lieve Vrouwenpoort gate and the Peperbus tower, so most of the kilometres run through the heart of the old town. The afternoon begins with a 5-kilometre walk, followed by a 1-kilometre family run; after that the 5 and then the 10 kilometres set off. Companies can enter both running distances as a team. That build-up makes the event accessible enough for families and walkers while still leaving a recognisable road race for anyone who wants to perform.
