The Triathlon Utrecht takes place around the Strijkviertel recreational lake on the western edge of the city. The swim is in the lake, the bike course heads out into the polder towards Nieuwegein, and the run course lies largely on and around the recreation grounds with the Utrecht skyline in the background. There are three distances: the sprint over 750 metres of swimming, 20 kilometres of cycling and 5 kilometres of running, the standard distance over 1500 metres, 40 and 10 kilometres, and a one-third triathlon over 1500 metres, 60 and 15 kilometres. The standard distance can also be done as a three-person relay. The entry fee includes timing, aid stations along the course and free access to the race photos.
