The TRI4you Zwemloop Assen combines swimming with running, so it is not an ordinary road race. The swim takes place in the indoor pool at De Bonte Wever, after which participants pass through the transition zone behind the complex and head into the Asserbos woods. The programme builds from very small to serious: the youngest primary school groups aquajog 25 metres and then run half a kilometre, and from there it rises through 50 and 100 metres of swimming to the sprint distance of 500 metres swimming with 5 kilometres running. Athletes with a disability have their own series over the same distance as school groups 6 to 8. The longest distance can also be done as a duo or relay, with one swimming and the other running.
