The Baggelhuizercross is built around a single four-kilometre lap of the Baggelhuizerplas near Assen. The short cross is that lap once, the long one twice. The start and finish sit on the beach beside Beachclub Zand Erover, which gives the race its own feel straight away: sand, woodland path and grass alternate, and in late November the weather decides a large part of the time you run. The day opens with a recreational canicross over four kilometres, in which runners with dogs set off at fifteen-second intervals. Three kids runs of 500, 1000 and 1500 metres follow, divided by school year, with the cross itself in the afternoon. AAC'61 organises the event.
